1/400 Northwest Airlines “Investing in Pacific Trade”

Next aircraft up is the Boeing 747-249F Northwest Airlines Freighter in the “Investing in Pacific Trade” special livery (N643NW). Manufactured by Dragon Wings.

Not the most colourful plane out there, but the livery is quite interesting for me. It’s simple and clean, and most importantly, it looks good.

Both sides show different cities. This side show Anchorage, Chicago, Detroit, Los Angeles, New York, San Francisco, and Seattle.

And the other side shows Bangkok, Guam, Hong Kong, Manila, Osaka, Shanghai, Singapore, Taipei, and Tokyo. The globe also show different regions. This one is Eurasia and the other is North America. Hence the cities, I believe.

From the front.

Again, the paint job on this plane is also really good. No signs of fading off after 7-8 years. I believe not much cargo planes have special liveries. Sometimes I like the clean look from cargo planes, as they don’t have the windows. Overall, it’s a great buy. Love it.

1/400 Austrian Airlines Star Alliance Livery

It’s been a while since my latest post. I intended to do a post for each die-cast airplane, so here we go. The first one I want to do is my 1/400 Austrian Airlines in the old Star Alliance livery. Manufactured by Dragon Wings.

There are two planes in the package. Here is the first one, the Airbus A320-214 OE-LBR. It’s pretty small since it’s just an A320, but the print job is pretty well done. I had this for about 7-8 years already and it still is in a very good condition.

Front view of the plane.

Here is the second one. Airbus A330-223 OE-LAO. Similar quality compared to the A320 before. Only the size that differs, since this one is a lot bigger.

More details on the livery. Honestly speaking I love this Star Alliance livery more compared to their recent one (for reference). The airline logos look pretty cute being stacked up together there in the livery.

The only downside is that the wheels often came off from the body. Plus considering its small size, it is easy to lose it when it came off. It’s still a great buy anyway, especially considering Austrian Airlines have repainted both of the planes. One (OE-LAO) with the new Star Alliance livery and the other (OE-LBR) with the regular Austrian Airlines livery.

Die-cast Airplanes

A little collection of mine. I have been collecting these die-cast airplanes since I was very young.

Above are most of the airplanes. As one can see, I mostly collect planes that have special colourful schemes, though I have some others that are in the original paintjob. Airplanes always play a special part for me because it was the one that make me draw. I remember I used to create my own plane liveries.

All the Singapore Airlines plane I have. Yes, the colourful one (9V-SPK) was the one that crashed at Taipei in 2000. It was one of the toughest plane to get to be honest.

…and all the Cathay Pacific I have. I still don’t have the original livery. Might want to buy one soon. There are some other airlines that I also have but CX and SQ are my two biggest collections. Perhaps I will do a post for each of them.
